Guess what today is the start of.....?
Here is the required media to re-live the event throughout the year.

We took the Surly out on its first real ride. So far, so good!
Here is the Emily version of Smoothies.....uh, I believe this is actually a milkshake! Ingredients: Moose Tracks Ice Cream, Milk (hence, milkshake), pretzels, chocolate syrup and yogurt. Yikes, if I keep this up.....there goes my fall racing form.
Ouch! Going fast hurts. Too many milkshakes!

YES those are VHS tapes. Can you imagine my collection now after 4 years of recording Tours. I find watching the OLN/VERSUS broadcast later is more exciting to than purchasing the DVDs afterwards. I can still get all the play-by-play and key Bob Roll commentary...and Phil Liggett slip-ups. I record EVERY stage...and sometimes both the AM and PM coverage. BUT, I guess I should upgrade to TIVO or something.

VCRs have been in my life for least 25 years...I was 13 when my Dad brought one home for the first time.....they were like $500 or something...and I was totally blown away by the technology and recorded several years of every basketball game on TV.....I drove my mother nuts I believe because we only had one TV and I had to both watch and record the games.

With that being said, watching recorded videos of the Tour just does not provide the same living-room-electricity as watching it real-time July (with a brew of freshly roasted and ground coffee of course). I started recording the Tour once I figured that my daughter was not into it as much as me (duh).....and that I should decide between Tour and her for the month of July. That obviously was an easy decision to make. So, that is why I record the Tour....so I can hang out with her and then watch later when she is not with me. The bicycle also suffers the same hiatus of mileage.
